15 people die as a tractor hauling pilgrims to Haridwar crashes into a pond
According to NDTV, which cited the police, at least 15 people—including children—have died in Uttar Pradesh as a result of their tractor falling into a pond.
They were traveling to Haridwar. The event took place at Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh. The hospital in the area is treating the wounded.
Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh has expressed his sorrow over the lives lost in the unfortunate tragedy and promised to compensate the relatives of the dead and each wounded person ex-gratia with Rs 2 lakh and Rs 50,000, respectively.
It is very tragic that a vehicle accident in the Kasganj area claimed life. I’m sending the deceased family my sympathy. Officials from the district administration have been directed to treat every wounded person properly and at no cost. It’s a prayer to Lord Shri Ram for the wounded to heal quickly and for the departed souls to find peace,” he tweeted.
