Illegal settlement next to Central Jail is destroyed by Amritsar MC

An unlawful colony under construction near the Fatehpur Central Jail was razed today by the municipal corporation’s (MC) municipal town planning (MTP) division. A crew from the MTP visited the site and destroyed the under-construction buildings in the colony being erected on 10 acres next to the prison, per the orders of MC Commissioner Harpreet Singh.

The colony was visited in the morning by Paramjit Dutta, the Assistant Town Planner (ATP) for the Central Zone of the MC, who was accompanied by field workers, municipal police, demolition workers, and building inspector Navjot Kaur. They used ditch machines to dig up roads and destroyed a number of manholes, pipes, chambers, walls, and plot foundations across the colony. Within a 200-meter radius of the prison, the relevant authorities prohibit the building of dwellings.

In this respect, the prison administration has put up warning boards.
