Implementing CAA before the Lok Sabha elections is BJP’s “dirty vote-bank politics,” according to Kejriwal

NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday for enacting the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in advance of the Lok Sabha elections.
According to him, it is “dangerous” for the BJP to be opening India’s doors to destitute people from Bangladesh and Pakistan under the CAA.

“While other countries build walls and fences to prevent illegal migrants from entering their country, the BJP is the only party to open the nation’s doors for the poor from neighbouring countries,” Kejriwal added, calling the initiative “dangerous.”

“The BJP has made India more welcoming to citizens of Bangladesh and Pakistan. “The northeastern states, particularly Assam, will bear the consequences of this dangerous situation for the country,” the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said during a news conference on the CAA.
Kejriwal questioned the BJP’s plans to announce CAA regulations before the Lok Sabha elections, asking, “Why is this being done? Some claim it’s all simply a part of politics based on vote banks.”
Additionally, he denounced Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, for “betraying the people of the state.”
The undocumented migrants from Bangladesh are a threat to Assamese culture. The BJP intends to offer these undocumented immigrants citizenship. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, has abandoned his people, Kejriwal said.
The Delhi Chief Minister emphasized the effect of the CAA’s implementation on the economy by saying, “The BJP can’t give jobs to our children, but they want to give jobs to children from Pakistan.” While many of our people are without homes, the BJP wants to bring in immigrants from Pakistan.
“They want to offer their kids our employment. They want to establish Pakistanis in the homes that belong to us. Pakistanis will be settled with government funds that ought to be used for the advancement of our family and the nation,” he said.
He asked why the BJP couldn’t welcome back businessmen who had fled India rather than impoverished people from nearby nations. According to him, entrepreneurs can create employment for the nation.
The Citizenship Amendment Rules were announced on Monday by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The regulations will now make it easier for minorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who are persecuted for their religious beliefs to become citizens of India.
Citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who are members of the Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Christian, Buddhist, and Parsi groups and who immigrated to India on or before December 31, 2014, are eligible to apply for citizenship under this provision.
