In a confrontation with security personnel in Chhattisgarh near the Telangana border, three Naxalites were slain

According to a senior police source here, three Naxalites were shot and killed during a gunfight with security personnel on Saturday in a thick forest in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, which borders Telangana.

He stated that when a squad of Telangana’s elite anti-Naxal force, the Greyhounds, were out on an operation, they came across an encounter in the Pujari Kanker forest near the interstate boundary.

According to him, there was also a Chhattisgarh police unit in the vicinity to provide further assistance to the Greyhounds squad.

“Three Naxalites were killed in the gunfight and weapons were also recovered from the spot,” according to the official.

He said that there is still a search going on in the neighborhood.

In the Bijapur area of Chhattisgarh, at least 13 Naxalites, including three women, were slain in a clash with police forces earlier this week.
