In advance of the Louisiana elections, Southern Railway launches special trains for voters returning home

Special train services from Chennai to Coimbatore via Dindigul and Kanyakumari have been arranged by the Southern Railway. In advance of the Lok Sabha elections, this is being done to help people go to their local voting places. An official release states that on April 18 and 20, Train No. 06001 Tambaram – Kanyakumari Superfast Special is set to leave Tambaram at 4:45 PM. It will reach Kanyakumari on the next day at 4:40 AM. On April 19 and 21, around 8:30 PM, the train 06002, also called the Tambaram-Kanyakumari superfast special, is scheduled to leave from Kanyakumari. The next day, at 9:20 AM, it will reach Tambaram.

Two AC three-tier coaches, 19 sleeper coaches, and two luggage/brake van coaches will make up these trains. They will stop at the following places: Nagercoil, Sattur, Kovilpatti, Tirunelveli, Valliyur, Chengalpet, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Trichy, Dindigul, Madurai, and Virudhunagar.

On April 18 and 20, at 4:25 PM, Train No. 06003, also called the Chennai Egmore – Coimbatore special, is scheduled to leave from Chennai Egmore. The next day, at 8:20 AM, it will reach Coimbatore. On April 19 and 21, at 8:40 PM, Coimbatore – Chennai Egmore special train No. 06004 would leave from Coimbatore. It is anticipated to reach Chennai Egmore on the next day at 10:05 AM.

The trains will make stops at the following stations: Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Sirkazhi, Vaitheeswarankoil, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam, Papanasam, Thanjavur, Trichy, Manaparai, Dindigul, Oddanchatram, Palani, Udumalaipettai, Pollachi, Kinathukadavu, and Podanur. The stations these trains will stop at are Tambaram, Chengalpet, Melmaruvathur, Tindivanam, Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Oddanchatram. Tickets may be reserved ahead of time.

Sleeper class coaches and disabled-friendly second class coaches are available on Southern Railways’ special trains that travel from Tambaram to Mangalore on certain Fridays and Sundays. The route passes via Chennai Egmore, Perambur, and Katpadi.

In preparation for the Lok Sabha elections, Southern Railway is launching special trains that will link important sites. Passengers may enjoy additional services and facilities on these trains, such the ability to make reservations in advance.

Additionally, Central Railway has said that it would begin 92 summer special train runs, including several weekly specials. The purpose of these services is to handle the increased number of travelers anticipated during the busiest time of year.
