In Jalandhar, five business sites were shut

Five commercial establishments located around the city were sealed today by a crew from the Municipal Corporation. The properties on Dashmesh Avenue, Cantt Road, Sudama Vihar Extension, and Bhai Banno Ji Nagar were blocked.

Action was taken against the unauthorized buildings by Narinder Midde, Raju Majhi, and Inspector Varinder Kaur. The group members threatened to take no prisoners from anyone building illegitimate properties.

Following yesterday’s implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, the Tehbazari team said that they had removed 1,000 party hoardings from the city in a single day.

“To remove illegal hoardings, five teams have been constituted,” the Tehbazari wing’s superintendent, Mandeep Singh, said.

Notably, Jalandhar MC Commissioner Gautam Jain, who has been designated as the nodal officer for the implementation of the model code of conduct, was asked yesterday by Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Vishesh Sarangal to ensure the removal of political advertisements, hoardings, banners, and unauthorised defacement within a day.

The DEO said that any wall inscriptions, posters, papers, and other forms of defacement, such as cutouts or hoardings, banners, and flags on government property, shall be taken down within 24 hours of the Election Commission announcing the results.
