In Maharashtra, theme-based voting places attract voters

The Maharashtra government has implemented a number of theme-based polling places that showcase the state’s cultural, social, and natural variety as a novel way to engage voters.

The district administration of Nagpur is hoping that this novel idea would provide voters a fresh experience and boost voting participation.

Ten voting booths with a theme have been installed, four in Ramtek and six in Nagpur. Several subjects, such as bamboo forests, metro trains, the army, and farmers, are represented in these booths.

The voting booth at Nagpur’s Gokul Balwadi in Seminary Hills is focused on the environment, while the polling station at Ramtek’s Zilla Parishad High School is themed on forests.

While Pachpaoli’s rainbow-themed booth is focused on the transgender community, another exhibit in West Nagpur is based on the textile business.

In the meanwhile, the election panel has set up 56 pink booths in the Jhunjhunu region of Rajasthan, where women are conducting the voting. In the state of the desert, some green booths have also been erected.

The first round of the Lok Sabha elections of 2024 is now being held in 102 seats that are dispersed among 21 states and Union Territories.

Voting will end at 6 PM, having started at 7 AM. There will be seven stages to the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, with the last phase taking place on June 1. On June 4, there will be a counting.
