In Tamil Nadu, Karti Chidambaram denies the BJP factor, saying that Annamalai is a nobody

Karti Chidambaram, the Congress leader and party candidate from Sivaganga, referred to K Annamalai, the chairman of the BJP in Tamil Nadu, as a “nobody” and said that the saffron party had no influence in the southern state. Karti said that the AIADMK was the second-largest party in the state and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “fleeting” travels to Tamil Nadu would not have an impact in an exclusive interview with India Today TV.

Karti Chidambaram’s comments coincide with the BJP’s southern thrust, which has been centered on Tamil Nadu, and its aspirational leader Annamalai’s impassioned speeches have catapulted him to prominence.

“People of Tamil Nadu will vote against the BJP for the unprecedented price rise, and the hardships caused to their life for the past ten years,” the Member of Parliament for Sivaganga said.

In Tamil Nadu, the first round of voting involves all 39 seats. Karti is considering running for a second term in the Lok Sabha from the Sivaganga constituency, which was previously held by his father, P Chidambaram and a former finance minister seven times.

ANNAMALAI, KARTI CHIDAMBARAM ON PM MODI
Regarding the BJP’s extensive outreach in Tamil Nadu, Chidambaram said that the people in the state are not moved by Prime Minister Modi’s regular trips and speeches.

“Tell me about the third front. Only our front (DMK-Congress) exists; AIADMK is the other. The BJP has no bearing. PM Modi’s quick trips and his hour-long tirade in Hindi won’t make a difference,” he said.

The state chairman of the BJP, Annamalai, will not affect the party’s performance in the state, according to the Congress leader. “I fail to see him. He is noticed by you, the media, and you write about him. He answered, “I don’t see him at all.

Additionally, Karti Chidambaram said that Tamil Nadu had a close relationship with the Gandhi family and that Rahul Gandhi was more well-liked than Narendra Modi.

“The Gandhi family and I are related by blood. Above all, Rahul Gandhi does not lecture us when he visits Tamil Nadu. We are clearly different,” he said. Notably, at Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, in 1991, former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was killed.

“Not BJP, AIADMK PRINCIPAL OPPONENT”
He said that Tamil Nadu, which has a large number of ancient temples, was unaffected by the Ram Mandir. “Tamil Nadu has a large number of historically significant and richly traditional temples. Tamil Nadu temples provide us with enough food,” he said.

The junior Chidambaram said that the AIADMK was the “principal opponents” of the Congress-DMK coalition and that the Dravidian party will finish in second place in the Lok Sabha elections.

“The AIADMK is a party with a strong rural base. They will take second place because of this. Although they are the second-largest political party in Tamil Nadu, votes will not translate into seats. Because they don’t participate in social media or do English TV interviews, you don’t see them,” he remarked.
