In the Yamunanagar area, 17 cars were impounded for transporting mining resources illegally

The police and the Mines and Geology Department have taken significant action against the unlawful transportation of mining materials. They have detained 17 cars for allegedly transporting mining minerals without e-rawanas, resulting in a significant loss of income for the exchequer.

According to sources, on March 13, the Mining Department and a police team working under the direction of Rajesh Kumar, DSP-cum-Nodal Officer Mining, Yamunanagar, carried out an unexpected vehicle inspection in the Pratap Nagar region of the district.

According to sources, 17 cars were discovered unlawfully carrying materials mined. The cars were turned over to the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau by the Mining Department officials so they could take appropriate action.

Omdutt Sharma, the district mining officer, said, “The vehicles were seized under sub-rule numbers 102 and 104 of the State Mining Rules, 2012, read with under Section 21 (4) of the MMDR Act, 1957, and NGT, New Delhi, order dated April 23, 2019, and February 19, 2020.”

According to the mining officer, in addition to providing environmental compensation, they were required by the NGT orders to collect the fine, royalty, and the cost of the minerals put into the trucks.

According to sources, if a car, piece of machinery, or excavator has a showroom value of more than Rs 25 lakh and is less than five years old, a penalty of Rs 4 lakh would be assessed. If the car, piece of machinery, or excavator has a showroom value of more than Rs 25 lakh and is older than five but less than ten years, there is a penalty of Rs 3 lakh.
