Jaishankar predicts that the India-Russia leadership conference will likely return in 2024

Russia and India are expected to start up at the top level again in 2024, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Wednesday in Moscow.

You may remember that the past two years, the G20 Presidency of India under PM Modi, the crisis between Russia and Ukraine in 2022, and other factors prevented the holding of the India-Russia leadership summit.

“Strategic convergence, geographical reality, and reciprocal benefits characterize India-Russian relations. Jaishankar said, “We signed a Protocol on Consultations for 2024–2028.

This year’s seventh meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Jaishankar took place.

According to what I’ve been told, this is our eighth encounter. In large part, this is because of the many frequent interactions that have been possible thanks to the G20, SCO, ASEAN, and BRICS platforms. Additionally, Jaishankar said, “Our leaders, President Putin and Prime Minister Modi, have also been in regular contact.”

In their conversation as strategic partners, Jaishankar and Lavrov spoke about the global environment and shared opinions on the G20, BRICS, SCO, Gaza, Afghanistan, and Central Asia.

“Russia is in favor of India joining the UN Security Council as a permanent member, along with members from Africa and Latin America. Relations between Russia and India are built on mutual respect and are not influenced by political shifts, according to Lavrov.

“It is evident from our discussions that the relationship between Russia and India is still quite solid and stable. They are predicated on our shared geopolitical objectives, strategic convergence, and reciprocal advantages. We spoke for a long time about working together politically on a range of global problems, such as BRICS, which Russia will lead, and other international organizations,” Jaishankar said.

Russia and India have spoken about working together in the Russian Far East. India is anticipating the participation of a delegation from the Far East at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit.

The two ministers also decided that in the second part of January of this year, talks for a free trade deal between India and the Eurasian Economic Union would get back up.

We also discussed the International North-South Transport Corridor’s ability to link western India. Additionally, communication along the polar route and from Chennai to Vladivostok in eastern India. We spoke about how India and Russia may work together to strengthen India’s polar capabilities,” Jaishankar said.

India is also looking forward to more Russian visitors. There are already 64 flights connecting the two countries, and there may be more.
