Jalandhar: A person detained after raping and impregnating a young girl

A 13-year-old girl was heartbrokenly raped by his neighbor many times over the course of the previous three months. When the victim complained of stomach trouble, her father was informed about the occurrence. The victim’s pregnancy was discovered by the medical professionals when she was brought in for a checkup.

Under pertinent POCSO Act provisions, a complaint was filed in this respect at the Navi Baradari police station on Wednesday. Charan Das, also known as Sunny Baba, a resident of Beas, Amritsar, was named as the suspect and taken into custody.

The victim’s father is a migrant from Gwalior who, according to the police, relocated to Jalandhar around ten years ago. According to the police, he worked as a cobbler and lived with his family close to the railway quarters. He was living alone with his daughter after his wife passed away a few years ago.

The victim’s father told the police that when he was out at work and his daughter was alone at home, the suspect, a neighbor, would stop by their house. He said, “He threatened my daughter, telling her not to tell anyone or else he would harm both of us.”

He went on to say that on April 14, when his daughter complained of a stomachache, he brought her to the Civil Hospital in Jalandhar. Doctors verified the girl’s pregnancy and found damage on her private regions during the checkup.

He then succeeded in persuading his daughter to disclose that their neighbor had been forcing her to have sex with him.
