Jharkhand Man Leaves RBI, Prepares for UPSC at 30

We often hear uplifting tales of individuals who overcame adversity to succeed in one of India’s most challenging tests, the Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination (UPSC CSE). Saurabh Bhuwania’s tale is one such instance. He has accomplished several milestones in a very short amount of time, not just one. Saurabh Bhuwania was a full-time employee of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and a native of Dumka, Jharkhand. The fact that Saurabh quit his job and began studying for the UPSC at the age of 30 is motivational. He demonstrated that age is only a number and that everyone, regardless of age, is capable of success if they are dedicated and determined to pursue their goals. In 2018, he passed the UPSC test and earned an All-India Rank (AIR) of 113.

Saurabh Bhuwania received his degree in commerce from the esteemed St. Xavier’s College in Kolkata. He studied courses to become a Chartered Accountant (CA) and Company Secretary (CS) after receiving his degree. He furthered his study in 2015 by enrolling in the Master of Business Administration program at Delhi University’s Faculty of Management Studies.

He was hired as a manager by the prestigious RBI. He took UPSC seriously after that. He encountered other candidates who were getting ready for the test. He, too, was committed to passing the UPSC. Due to a lack of writing experience, he failed at his first try but persisted. In 2018, he doubled down on his efforts and, by pure willpower, passed the test on his second try.

When it comes to support, Saurabh Bhuwania once said in a media interview that it was his father and wife who gave him their unwavering support, which enabled him to pass the exam. When questioned about his position at RBI, he said that his passion in banking made him really like his work there. But he wanted to serve the public and work for their benefit, therefore he chose to apply for the UPSC because of this. He is now employed as an IAS officer.
