Kejriwal alleges in a letter to the Tihar Superintendent that he needs insulin every day: AAP

Detained According to AAP sources, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has addressed a letter to the superintendent of Tihar’s Central Jail no. 2, stating that he is seeking insulin on a daily basis and that the assertions made by the jail administration are untrue.

“I read the Tihar administration’s statement in the press. After reading the statement, I felt depressed. Tihar’s two comments are untrue, according to AAP sources who cited his letter.

“For ten days, I have brought up the subject of insulin. I showed every doctor I saw that my blood sugar was elevated. I demonstrated to them that the sugar level fluctuated between 250 and 320 points three times a day.

Additionally, I demonstrated to them that my daily fasting blood sugar level was between 160 and 200. I almost always insisted on having insulin. Then how are you able to claim that I never brought up the topic of insulin? In his letter, Kejriwal mentioned sources from the AAP.

According to AAP sources, Kejriwal never told “not to worry” during his video conversation with the physicians from AIIMS; instead, they said that they would notify him after reviewing the information and past medical records.

According to AAP sources, “the Tihar administration is lying under political pressure.”

The Tihar prison administration arranged a video chat between Kejriwal and a senior specialist from AIIMS on Saturday. During the session, neither Kejriwal nor the medical professionals suggested insulin use.

The 40-minute consultation was held on Saturday at Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of the chief minister of Delhi.

“Senior AIIMS doctors gave Arvind Kejriwal, who is incarcerated, advice via video conference (VC) on Saturday. After a long forty-minute meeting, Kejriwal was told there were no major issues. He was instructed to stick to his recommended course of treatment, which would be periodically assessed and reassessed, according to sources within the institution.

Kejriwal’s food and prescription data, together with the full record of his Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) sensor readings, were sought and obtained by the Senior Specialist from AIIMS.

The jail sources said, “Kejriwal neither brought up the topic of insulin nor did the doctors recommend it.”

In a report earlier this year, the Tihal jail administration informed Delhi L-G V. K. Saxena that Kejriwal had been taking insulin for the previous few years, but he had stopped a few months ago after seeing a doctor in Telangana. At the time of his arrest, all he was taking was the oral medication Metformin, which is a basic diabetic treatment.

The article said that Kejriwal has not been prescribed insulin or had any indication that it is necessary in his instance, citing medical documents from the RML Hospital in the nation’s capital. It further stated that the Chief Minister is taking oral anti-diabetes medication.

Jail No. 2 is home to Kejriwal, who was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in connection with the purported excise policy fraud. He will remain in court detention until April 23.
