Krishnagiri: Over a romance, a drunken guy kills his little daughter

Bagalur police detained a 37-year-old man named Kannan on Sunday night after he reportedly beat his 16-year-old daughter to death while intoxicated over her connection with a young person.

Arrested were the girl’s mother (34), as well as her maternal aunt (37). Radha (name altered) was a class 11 student in a higher education institution run by the government. She was seeing a 25-year-old guy named Mohan (real name withheld) who lived in a different hamlet and belonged to the same Adi Dravidar group, the police said.

Mohan and Kannan argued over their relationship a few months back. Radha’s absence from school was reported to Kannan by a teacher on Wednesday. Radha was with Kannan when he contacted Mohan, who informed him that he would take her home that evening, according to the authorities.

On Wednesday night, Radha and the inebriated Kannan got into a furious quarrel during which he demanded that they break up. Radha was reportedly beaten by Kannan when she refused. Police claimed she died after falling and hitting her head on the bed.

When Kannan told Mohan that Radha was gone early on Thursday morning, the two men went to the Hosur AWPS but did not file a report, according to the police. When Mohan became suspicious, he began to look for CCTV video in the area.

Locals in the Pattavarapalli area reported to the police on Friday night after seeing a corpse in the lake. After being found late on Friday night, the corpse was sent to the Hosur government hospital for a postmortem investigation.

Police alleged that throughout their investigation, Kannan admitted to killing Radha while intoxicated. The three were detained by Bagalur police on Sunday night.
