On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a group of MPs as they all made their way from the old to the new Parliament building to attend the sitting in the new complex’s Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha chambers.

As they made their way from the old to the new Parliament building, PM Modi was accompanied by BJP leader JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. They were followed by NDA MPs who chanted “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Vande Matram” as they passed.

Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla arrived to the new Parliament on his own.

Later, a number of opposition MPs were spotted making their way to the brand-new Parliament complex.

Event at the Old Parliament’s Central Hall
Prior to the transition to the new Parliament complex, the MPs attended a celebration in the Central Hall of the old Parliament building. Speaking at a gathering in the historic Parliament’s Central Hall, Modi said that a great India cannot be imagined if its people do not dream large and that a huge image cannot be created on a little canvas. Can you create a large image on a little canvas? No! The prime minister added, “In the same manner, we cannot draw a painting of ‘Bhavya Bharat’ on a narrow canvas of thought.

“Our heritage is rich! We will undoubtedly be able to paint a picture of ‘Bhavya Bharat’, we will undoubtedly be able to fill this picture with colors, and we will undoubtedly be able to offer this beautiful, colorful, and grand picture of ‘Maa Bharti’ to our future generations if this rich heritage is joined in by our dreams, our resolutions, and if our canvas of thinking expands,’ he said. The transfer to the new Parliament building, according to Modi, is a fresh beginning toward a new future, and he asked the members to reconfirm the pledge to make India a developed country by 2047.

Old Parliament Building renamed
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recommended on Tuesday that the name “Samvidhan Sadan” be given to the historic Parliament building.

We will relocate to the new Parliament building. Speaking at a gathering in the Central Hall to honor the significant contributions made by the Indian Parliament, he noted that it was Ganesh Chaturthi and that the day was auspicious.

“My recommendation is that the splendor of this building should never diminish when we go to the next one. It shouldn’t be referred to as just the old Parliament. Samvidhan Sadan is a possible name for it, Modi stated.
