INDIA VOTES 2024; BJP begins polling in Srinagar with an eye on a reversal

Though the BJP is not certain of winning any of the 400 parliamentary seats, including the Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency, the party met with cluster and booth leaders of the district within 24 hours of the Election Commission’s announcement of the elections in an attempt to turn things around.

Senior Jammu and Kashmiri BJP leader Surinder Amberdar said during a workers’ gathering on Sunday at Jawahar Nagar Municipal Park that the party has organized clusters, or groups of two to three booths, in order to run an efficient election campaign.

“The BJP is an organization founded on cadres. This is where the eight Srinagar district Assembly segments are being prepared for. We have created cluster structures with two to three booths each. Cluster chiefs and booth heads are convening as an organization, according to Amberdar.

The former MLC said that the party would present its symbol, platform, and track record to the voters as soon as the Election Commission released the timetable for the Lok Sabha elections.

“The BJP runs for office on the basis of its performance and philosophy. Although the organization is better, the applicant still has value. In order for the people to vote for us, we must bring our symbol—the Lotus—to them, he said. When asked whether the BJP was counting on Narendra Modi to serve as its face throughout the campaign, Amberdar answered that the PM was more than that.

“Narendra Modi is not merely this campaign’s face; he is a global leader, an icon, and a game-changer. We intend to increase it further now that we are winning 400 seats,” he said.

Amberdar said honestly when asked whether the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat was one of the 400 seats the BJP was certain to win. “Srinagar is not one of the 400 seats, no. From here, we’re attempting to make it 401,” he said.

Arun Gupta, a BJP spokesperson, said that the party has a white paper on its 10-year record ready. A white paper on the ten years of the BJP government will be released. It is your responsibility as employees to share it with everyone, Gupta said.

“The administration has worked to advance national development. In 2014, when we took office, and now in 2024, we have gathered statistics on GDP inflation and other related topics,” he said.
