Lok Sabha elections 2024: In the Shirdi and Ahmednagar South LS constituencies, BJP leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil is requesting assistance from Ramdas Athawale

Senior BJP leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil contacted Union Minister Ramdas Athawale here on Thursday night, requesting his help in helping the governing Mahayuti coalition win the Maharashtra Lok Sabha seats of Shirdi and Ahmednagar South, according to sources who spoke to news agency PTI.

In the Shirdi by-election, Sadashiv Lokhande of the governing Shiv Sena is up against Bhausaheb Wakhchaure of the Shiv Sena (UBT), while Sujay Vikhe Patil of the BJP faces off against Nilesh Lanke of the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) in Ahmednagar South.

The Athawale-led RPI (A) district and taluka office bearers from the two seats attended the closed-door meeting at the Union minister’s Mumbai home, according to PTI.

Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil is the Mahayuti in-charge of Shirdi and Ahmednagar South, according to the sources who spoke to PTI. He has been given the responsibility of securing both seats for the BJP-led coalition.

Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil’s son, Sujay Vikhe Patil is the current Member of Parliament for Ahmednagar South.

Athawale, a BJP ally, was not consulted in the selection of the candidate and had contested the Shirdi seat himself.

According to the reports, in order to guarantee the success of the Mayayuti candidates, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil approached the followers of Athawale in the two seats.

In the two seats, there are pockets of power for the RPI (A).

The NCP, the Shiv Sena, and the BJP make up the Mahayuti coalition.

Ambadas Danve, the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), said on Thursday that the unbroken Sena accomplished much for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Among its many accomplishments was securing the approval of Rs 200 crore for the Nandur Madhameshwar canal during the tenure of former MP Chandrakant Khaire as district guardian minister from 1995 to 1999.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Imtiaz Jaleel of AIMIM defeated Khaire.

Danve announced at a news conference that the Nandur Madhameshwar canal greatly improved irrigation in the Vaijapur taluka. He also said that Khaire had received approval to expand the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Waluj route.

In addition, he carried out thorough follow-up for the construction of the Dhule-Solapur (NH52) highway, which crosses the district. During his reign, the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor was also approved. The Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA administration approved funding for the Paithan water grid project, Danve continued, according to PTI.

Before the MVA took power, according to Danve, the city received water once every three days; under the Shiv Sena-BJP-NCP coalition, however, this has changed to once every nine days.
