Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Sanjay Tandon replaces Kirron Kher for the BJP in Chandigarh

Elections for the Lok Sabha (2024): On Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled a new slate of nine candidates. In the impending elections, the party has dismissed Kirron Kher, the sitting member of Chandigarh, and will be replaced by Sanjay Tandon.

The saffron party has Naeeraj Tripathi from Allahabad (Prayagraj), Vinod Sonkar from Kaushambi, SS Ahluwalia from Asansol in West Bengal, Praveen Patel from Phulpur, and Akhilesh Yadav’s wife Dimple Yadav from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, among other candidates.

Neeraj Shekhar, the son of the late Chandra Shekhar, the former prime minister, has been announced as the contender to unseat incumbent MP Virendra Singh Mast in the Ballia Lok Sabha constituency.

The party selected SS Ahluwalia, the current Member of Parliament for West Bengal’s Asansol Lok Sabha constituency, as its candidate. Ahluwalia is now the West Bengali representative for the Bardhaman-Durgapur Lok Sabha constituency.

In its tenth list, the BJP proposed candidates for nine Lok Sabha seats—seven in Uttar Pradesh, one in Chandigarh, and one in West Bengal.

The list indicates that Paras Nath Rai will run for the Lok Sabha from the Uttar Pradesh seat of Ghazipur.

Dr. Rita Bahuguna Joshi, an MP from Allahabad, was also removed from office while in office. Neeraj Tripathi, the son of former Speaker Kesri Nath Tripathi, has been awarded the ticket by the BJP.

Parveen Patel has also taken Keshri Devi Patel’s seat as the current MP for Phulpur. Machhlishahr MP BP Saroj has been renominated to run in the next election.

The BJP has announced Paras Nath Rai as their candidate for Ghazipur. Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, is close to Rai. He is going to take on Samajwadi Party (SP) member Afzal Ansari.

For a third term, sitting member Vinod Sonkar plans to run for reelection in Kaushambhi.

The Lok Sabha elections of 2024 will be held in seven stages, starting on April 19. Phase two is scheduled for April 26, followed by phases three and four on May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1.
