Low pressure is expected over Jodhpur when Cyclone Biparjoy enters Rajasthan as a depression

Friday afternoon, Cyclone Biparjoy will make landfall in Rajasthan as a depression. By the time it reaches Jodhpur on Saturday, it will have changed into a low-pressure system.

After hitting the Gujarat coast, the cyclone’s effects would be seen in the southwest region of Rajasthan.

Additionally, a storm with a maximum speed of 70 km is possible.

Rajasthan could see severe to extremely heavy rain on Friday and Saturday, prompting authorities to issue a “red” notice for several areas of the state.

‘Red’ alerts have been issued for Jodhpur, Pali, and Nagaur on Saturday, as well as Barmer and Jalore on Friday.

An ‘orange’ warning has also been issued for Rajsamand, and it will go into force for Jaipur, Ajmer, Tonk, and Nagaur on Saturday.

On Wednesday, the state’s chief secretary met with each district collector in the state to go through the preparations.

Nine companies of the SDRF and NDRF have been sent for relief and rescue in various areas.

One company of the NDRF has been deployed in Ajmer, while eight companies of the SDRF will stay in Jaipur, Kota, Bharatpur, Udaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, and Bikaner.

People in the low-lying, flooded parts of the Barmer and Jalore districts are to be evacuated, according to the instructions.

In the meanwhile, the state administration has prohibited tourist excursions and outdoor activities in the regions covered by the red and orange warnings from Friday through Sunday.

Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister, held a high-level conference with the authorities late on Wednesday night to examine the preparations taken to handle the cyclone-related disaster.

By Thursday night, Cyclone Biparjoy is anticipated to make landfall at Gujarat’s Jakhau Port.

On Wednesday, the Revdar tehsil neighbourhood in Sirohi district, which is near to Gujarat, was battered by rain and high winds.

People were unable to leave their homes due to the wind speed. Additionally, the hoardings that had been put up outside the stores collapsed.

On the other hand, a district warning has been issued due to the storm, and residents have been told to stay indoors.

The collector has issued a warning to the populace in Barmer, Jalore, Pali, Barmer, and Jaisalmer districts, asking them to exercise extra caution on Friday and Saturday.

Additionally, emergency flood control room numbers have been provided.

Loudspeakers in Bikaner are being used to provide instructions to the public to stay vigilant.
