Madhya Pradesh Polls: Congress Posts Video, Claims Balaghat Election Officer Opened Mail-In Ballots Before Counting

Congress said on Monday that the Balaghat District Election Officer had opened mail-in ballots before to December 3rd, the day of the count. A group headed by JP Dhanopia, the party’s election coordinator, filed a grievance with the State Election Commission on the same.

“The local Balaghat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and the district election officer, Girish Kumar Mishra, are conspiring. After our candidate and his or her followers arrived, they created this video. Kamal Nath, our state president, has already expressed concern about these anomalies. Speaking to ANI on Monday, JP Dhanopia, the Madhya Pradesh Congress Election-in-Charge, said, “We have complained today and have been assured of action after investigation.”

The footage and the purported vote-rigging via postal ballot at the Balaghat district strong room were also shared by the state unit of Congress.

“The elections are tarnished by Balagahat Collector. The Madhya Pradesh Congress said in the post that Dr. Girish Mishra, the Collector of the Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh, unsealed the postal ballot boxes and the strong room today, November 27, without telling the candidates.

“A video of postal ballots being opened before counting and the possibility of tampering has surfaced in Balaghat district of the state, about which the Congress Party has complained to the Election Commission,” said Congress leader Kamal Nath on social network X. This is a really important issue. The offenders should be dealt with right away. I urge the employees of Congress to maintain their vigilance and prevent any disruptions.”

On the social networking site, several people shared the video that the state Congress had released.

Dhanopia went on to say that if sufficient action is not done, the Congress delegation would lodge a protest with the Election Commission of India in Delhi.

On November 17, Madhya Pradesh held elections, with 71.16 percent of voters casting ballots until 5 PM. The votes, along with those from the other four states, will be tallied on December 3.
