Maha CM Shinde meets with NITI Aayog representatives and discusses the economic development of the Mumbai region

Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, met with representatives of NITI Aayog on Tuesday to discuss the actions that must be taken to raise the GDP of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) to USD 300 billion by 2030.

In a statement released by his office, Shinde was cited as stating that the state government will form a separate team to work with the NITI Aayog.

B V R Subrahmanyam, the CEO of NITI Aayog, and his delegation gave a presentation on ways to accelerate the city’s economic development.
The meeting also included Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Ministers.

According to the statement, which cited Subrahmanyam, the MMR’s current GDP is USD 140 billion. The MMR’s population will increase to 2.7 crore by 2030. Over the last five years, MMR has grown at a 5% annual pace.
