Maharashtra: Police Seize Food Items Made with a Fake FSSAI License Worth Rs. 4.82 Lakh and Books 4 People

The food was prepared and held at a godown in the Thane region of Maharashtra with an alleged falsified license, and the police seized more than 500 kilograms of food goods, including different cooking oils, totaling INR 4.82 lakh.

According to a representative of Shil-Daighar Police Station, “A prominent asafoetida producer contacted the police with a complaint that the accused were producing the items with a bogus licence. Officials from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) then conducted a raid on the godown.

 

According to reports, the authorities conducted an examination at a godown in Daighar on Thursday and charged its four proprietors.

 

The FDA and police agencies collected a number of items, including edible gum, compounded asafoetida, mustard oil, cotton seed refined oil, and rice bran oil combined with some dark liquid. They obtained a fake license from the FSSAI of India to produce these goods.

 

The items that were seized are worth a total of Rs. 4,82,000.

 

According to the police, a complaint was filed against the four proprietors of the godown under many provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act as well as under sections 420 (cheating) and 34 (common purpose) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

 

Mahesh Sheth, Abhishek Tripathi, Anil Yadav, and Mohaziddin Mohammad Iqbal Memon are the four defendants, according to PTI.
