Massive stacks of chili in Enumamula yard

Large amounts of red chilies from the former Warangal area are inundating Enumamula, Asia’s biggest agricultural market yard. Farmers want to sell their goods, but because of lower exports, merchants are reluctant to buy chilli. As a result, farmers are using godowns to store their produce.

Wonder Hot (WH) chillies, tomato varietals, and single patties are the most in-demand and are sold for between Rs 36,000 and Rs 44,000 per quintal. According to information acquired by TNIE, 80,000 bags of red chilies were brought to the market on Friday, with prices per quintal ranging from Rs 17,000 to Rs 40,000.

Because there is a shortage of storage space in the cold storage facilities, Enumamula market secretary K Sangaiah urged farmers not to hurry to the agricultural market. He said that there was still room for two lakh bags even though all 25 cold storages were already fully stocked with red chili bags.
