Mistakes claim three lives in the Mohali area

Three people in the area lost their lives in different traffic incidents.

Early on Sunday morning, the drivers of two trucks allegedly fell over the space between the dividers on the Dera Bassi flyover on the national highway between Chandigarh and Ambala. One of them died away, while the other suffered severe injuries. The two lanes that the victims fell through are separated by a distance of over 1.5 feet.

The trucks, whose registration numbers were from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, were traveling from the Ambala side to Chandigarh when they collided on the flyover as a result of traffic. They dropped through the space between the barriers and landed 30 feet below on the road as their drivers got out to inspect the damage to their cars in the dark.

Shamli, Uttar Pradesh resident Mohammad Mustafa was pronounced dead, while truck driver Gabbar from Rajasthan was admitted to the GMCH-32. Based on Ashu’s account, the UP truck driver, the police filed a complaint against Gabbar.

In a another incident, a rider lost his life in the early hours of Tuesday after being struck by an unknown car on the Chandigarh-Ambala national highway close to Bhankharpur.

Ashu Kumar, the victim—a native of Uttar Pradesh—was struck from behind by an unknown car while he was driving home from Chandigarh at approximately one in the afternoon. The driver of the car fled the scene quickly.

The man was taken by passersby to the Dera Bassi subdivisional hospital, where medical professionals pronounced him dead.

Based on the father of the deceased, Pooran Chand,’s account, the driver of the missing vehicle has been charged with careless driving.

Another incident happened on Monday night when a truck struck a car head-on near Jhanjeri, killing the driver. Ranbir Singh, a Jhanjeri resident, was the casualty. He was on his way home from Mohali. After being taken to a hospital in Sohana, he was pronounced dead by the medics there. Rajbir Singh, the nephew of the deceased, has filed a complaint alleging careless driving. The driver of the vehicle has escaped.
