MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh of Amritsar remains silent for missing the CM’s meeting

Renowned for making shady remarks about his party’s leaders in the government in response to political happenings, Amritsar North MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap chose to keep quiet when asked why he didn’t attend the meeting called by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Yesterday, in Chandigarh, Vijay Pratap refrained from attending the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) meeting on the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat.

Eight of the border district’s nine AAP MLAs took part, in addition to the two Halqa in-charges of Majitha and Raja Sansi, who were representing the SAD and the Congress, respectively. There are eleven segments of assembly in the border district.

Vijay Pratap, a former IPS officer who is now a politician, chose to stay mute when asked why he didn’t attend the meeting that the chief minister called. Otherwise, via his social media postings, he has been criticizing the party, its officials, and even the CM for questionable political events.

On March 27, the same day when MLA Sheetal Angural and MP Sushil Kumar Rinku of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) joined the BJP, Vijay Pratap accused the party’s top leaders of alienating the elected politicians and causing them to leave the party.

Vijay Pratap had earlier taken aim at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on social media on January 27, two days prior to the hearing in the Kotkapura police firing case, writing: “The accused’s grand attorney, who is now your government’s grand attorney, giving me and my private attorneys a good hit.” He expressed his displeasure with the “unfriendly” reception he received from the CM staff in the same article, saying that “your PA is not happy to hear my phone.”

After his party chief Arvind Kejriwal and chief minister Bhagwant Mann launched the “school of eminence,” he ventured to criticize his party, stating, “Please show me the school, if it is newly built.”

When I called him on the phone many times, he did not answer. Likewise, his text messages went unanswered. “Vijay Pratap does not attend any meetings,” said his close aide, APS Chatha. He only communicates with regular people. He continued by saying that only he could respond to the inquiries and that he would deliver the message.
