Mom and son are detained for extorting an ex-official

A former district court reader filed a complaint accusing a lady and her son of blackmailing him by falsely accusing him of rape, leading to the arrest of the pair.

According to officials, a complaint has been filed under Sections 389 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Angrez Singh and his wife Veerpal Kaur of the hamlet Thandewala in Muktsar; Shalu of Sadulshahar in Sriganganagar; and two unidentified individuals. In this instance, Vikramjit and Sunita Rani have been taken into custody by the police.

Balwinder Singh, the complainant, claimed to have worked as a district court reader and to dwell in Panjpir Nagar. A female calling herself Shalu called about a week ago and said that her in-laws often torment her and that her spouse is based in Australia. She asked him for assistance and asked him to come to her home so she could get rid of them.

The FIR states that when Balwinder went to the aforementioned girl’s home in Sunder Nagri on March 12 in the afternoon, she reportedly invited him inside, undressed, and begged to have sex. When he attempted to flee out of fear for his safety, a lady entered and threatened to use her camera and photos to falsely accuse him of rape. She wanted more than Rs 1 lakh and had him send Rs 18,000 from his phone via UPI. But the former official was able to escape.

Other suspects in the crime were being sought after by the Abohar police.
