narco-terror kingpin from Himachal Pradesh is detained by the J&K SIA

The State Investigation Agency of the Jammu & Kashmir Police said on Friday that it has successfully apprehended narco-terror kingpin Mohammad Iqbal in the Mandi region of Himachal Pradesh.

Iqbal was apprehended, according to a SIA spokeswoman, as a result of technology monitoring and human intelligence that discovered his whereabouts in the Mandi area. Iqbal was later captured by the SIA after sending a squad to Mandi under the direction of inspector Lakhvir.

Iqbal was sought for by the police at Poonch, where four companions in a narco-terror module attempted to sneak narcotics and bombs into India via the Poonch border barrier on May 30. After a battle in which a soldier and a terrorist were injured, several Sikh Light Infantry soldiers of the Indian Army were able to stop the suspects. The suspects were quickly captured with warlike supplies of weapons, ammo, IEDs, and heroin.

The matter was sent to the SIA Jammu on July 6 for investigation.

Investigation revealed that one of the four suspects, Mohammad Iqbal of Poonch, was able to flee the scene of the confrontation. It is important to remember that on August 19, the SIA Jammu apprehended the group’s handler, Mohammad Javed, who was also on the run, during an operation in Delhi. This ultimately led to the SIA from Poonch apprehending another conspirator, Mohammad Liyaqat, on August 25.

The involvement of foreign handlers running this narco-terror module has been made clear by investigations. Six arrests have been made thus far, and the narco-terror module’s forward and backward ties are being established.

Further research into the syndicate’s cross-border activities showed that it was also engaged in the smuggling of explosives and weapons in addition to drugs.
