New Delhi: A 28-Year-Old Man Is Arrested on the Metro for Abusing a Young Boy

May 10, New Delhi: According to a police officer, a 28-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly abusing and improperly touching a little kid on the Delhi Metro. Jitender Gautam, a native of Delhi’s Khera Khurd area, was named as the culprit. His arrest follows the little boy’s May 3 post on the social networking site X stating that, while using the metro to go to his house, someone touched his hip with a finger as soon as they boarded the Rajiv Chowk Metro station.

“The complainant believed it was an accident, but the accused harassed the minor until he got to the Kashmere Gate Metro station.” The situation was then reported to the Rajiv Chowk Metro police station, and an inquiry was launched,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) R.G. Naik said. In the course of the inquiry, the offender who had assaulted the youngster was identified by scanning the CCTV video of fifteen metro stations, ranging from Rajiv Chowk to Jahangir Puri Metro station.”The accused was seen getting off at the Jahangir Puri Metro station.

After looking through the suspect’s travel records, it was discovered that he had entered the metro at the Kaushambi Metro station. Teams were thereafter sent to the Metro stations at Jahangir Puri and Kaushambi to ascertain the accused’s name and locate them,” the DCP said. According to Naik, after alighting from the station, the culprit was discovered using a service road in the vicinity of the Kaushambi Metro station, where CCTV video had been checked. “After displaying the accused’s picture, several store owners, security personnel, and community members inquired about the accused. Jitender Gautam, the accused, was captured after earnest efforts and confidential information,” he said.
