Noida flooding situation: Soon after significant rains, the Hindon River may reach a dangerous water level

Authorities said on Wednesday that the flood disaster in Noida and Greater Noida continued in the Hindon and Yamuna floodplains, impacting 17 villages with over 3,100 people transferred to shelter homes while around 1,600 hectares of land were submerged.

Both Lokesh M, the CEO of Noida Authority, and Manish Kumar Verma, the district magistrate for Gautam Buddh Nagar, visited a number of the affected regions and evaluated the condition at shelter homes erected by the government to host the displaced inhabitants.

Currently, 17 villages in Gautam Buddh Nagar’s three tehsils of Sadar (Noida), Dadri, and Jewar are affected. According to Kumar, who is also the nodal official for flood relief activities, there are now 3,355 individuals in the district who are affected and 3,137 people who have been forced to leave their homes.

He said that eight medical teams and 21 flood stations had been set up across the region, in addition to the 10 beds at the district hospital and the anti-venom drugs.

According to Kumar, the Yamuna River’s downstream water level at the Okhla Barrage on Wednesday at 4 p.m. was 198.25 meters while the Hindon River’s downstream water level was 201.15 meters, both below the 205.80 meter danger threshold.

According to the nodal officer, there are currently 22 functioning shelter shelters scattered around the district where arrangements have been made to provide the displaced persons free housing and food.

The government had also given for cow fodder, he said.

According to Kumar, 1,590 hectares of land are now being impacted by the district’s floods.

The villages along Hindon that have been impacted include Chhijarsi, Chotpur, Haibatpur, Yusufpur Chaksahberi, Bahalolpur, Chipiyana Khurd alias Tigri, Sutiyana, Momnathal, Kulesara, and Lakhnavali.

Some of the villages impacted by the Yamuna are Nangli Wajidpur, Shahpur Govardhanpur Khadar, Chakbasantpur Basantpur, Yakutpur, Chhaprauli Khadar, and Asadullapur.
