Novel initiatives are being developed to enhance tourism and foot traffic in J&K

Officials said on Saturday that the Tourism department in Jammu and Kashmir is working on a refreshed strategy to make the area a famous tourist destination. This includes considering taking up projects in public-private partnership form and engaging well-known subject experts.

The department also plans to host Formula 4 races in collaboration with private entities, according to the authorities, after a review meeting on the updated tourist development plan that was presided over by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo. The meeting on Friday, reportedly attended by Yasha Mudgal, the secretary of the tourism commissioner, covered fresh and creative ways to establish Jammu and Kashmir as the nation’s most sought-after travel destination.

The authorities said that in addition to other plans, the department is thinking about starting public-private partnership projects in the Jammu and Kashmir divisions to increase foot traffic.

They said that it has also made the decision to hold a three-day conference with prominent subject matter experts from the travel industry, cinema, hospitality, academia, information technology, eco-tourism, and travel trade groups.

Moreover, the tourism agency plans to collaborate with commercial entities to host auto events like Formula 4.

The government aims to make a promotional video and song that highlights Jammu and Kashmir’s natural beauty and positions the area as a top travel destination. According to the authorities, there are also plans to have a well-known brand ambassador who would promote Jammu and Kashmir globally.

According to the authorities, the department plans to conduct familiarization trips for elite members of trade travel groups in the fields of adventure, nature, and pilgrimage tourism in order to promote these circuits in the Union Territory.

The conference was told, they said, that the tourism department is now developing several forward-thinking ideas to significantly boost visitor numbers to popular tourist spots and establish Jammu & Kashmir as a national center for tourism.

The department will redesign its website, among other things, to make it accessible and educational for all parties involved.

In order to promote the adventure tourism resources of UT internationally, it has chosen to work in partnership with significant national players such as the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAOI). According to the official, this would not only make J&K a premier destination for adventure tourism but also create jobs in rural areas and boost economic activity.
