Odisha triple-train accident: Railway refutes claims that workers from Bahanaga are missing

On Tuesday, South Eastern Railway denied reports that a Bahanaga employee was missing after questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in relation to the triple train tragedy in Balasore, Odisha, and said that the accusations are untrue.

Aditya Kumar Chaudhary, CPRO, South Eastern Railway, Balasore, told reporters that “the media reports that are claiming that a Bahanaga staff involved in the investigation of the Balasore train accident is missing is missing is factually incorrect.” He said, “All staff members are present and assisting the Central Bureau of Investigation.”

This follows media allegations that a junior engineer involved in the quadruple train tragedy in Balasore is missing.

In connection with the sad June 2 three-train collision in Odisha’s Balasore district, CBI has opened an investigation.

In the statement, the CBI stated that it was acting “on the request of the Ministry of Railways, consent of the State of Odisha Government, and further orders from DoPT(Govt. of India) relating to the train accident involving Coromandel Express, Yashwantpur-Howrah Express, and a Goods train at Bahanaga Bazar in the State of Odisha on June 2, 2023.”

The statement said, “CBI has assumed the investigation of the case previously filed at Balasore GRPS, District Cuttack (Odisha), vide GRPS Case No.64 dated June 3 about the abovementioned accident.

As of June 19, 2023, Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw would visit Balasore for three days and speak with people who assisted after the train disaster.

He will also meet with hospital and district government officials while visiting the Balasore District Hospital. In addition, Vaishnaw will examine Balasore Railway Station’s construction, according to the Ministry of Railways.

“Union Railways Minister Vaishnaw will inspect Puri Railway station during his visit and will review the arrangements made for pilgrims in view of the world-famous Car Festival (Rath Yatra) in the evening,” according to the Ministry of Railways.
On June 20, in the early afternoon, Railways Minister Vaishnaw would also go to Rath Yatra.
An official announcement said that “later he will travel to Bahanaga Bazar to interact with the locals.”
