Only three mangoes were consumed, Arvind Kejriwal told the court

On Friday, a Delhi court postponed making a decision over Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s request to be permitted to take insulin while incarcerated and have daily, 15-minute video conferences with his physician.

In an oral observation, Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Court said that the court will investigate whether the CM was eating home-cooked meals while in judicial custody and adhering to the court-approved diet plan.

In support of Kejriwal, Senior Advocate Manu Singhvi said that he used artificial sweetener in his tea and just three times had he utilized mangoes in his forty-eight home-cooked meals.

The Delhi Chief Minister was charged on Thursday by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) with purposefully ingesting sweets, mangoes, and sweetened tea to try to control his blood sugar levels.

Singhvi informed the court that the central agency had manipulated mangoes to resemble “sugar bullets.” He said that even while incarcerated, Kejriwal had a right to health care. Is he a mafia boss? Is he such a devoted criminal that he can’t have a daily 15-minute video conference with his doctor?

The attorney for the Tihar Jail administration informed the court that Kejriwal had previously said that he was taking insulin but had stopped taking it at some point. The court inquired as to whether Kejriwal’s home-cooked meals followed the April 1 diet plan approved by the court. Singhvi said that the diet plan was adhered to, with the minor exception that mangoes and aloo-poori were supplied three times each for Navratri prasad.

According to the prison officials’ attorney, Kejriwal was receiving medical care and wasn’t having any problems.

The ED and the prison administration were instructed to submit their responses by tomorrow, and the court postponed making its decision. On Monday, the order will be given.

Since being placed in judicial custody, the CM said that his blood sugar levels had been swinging alarmingly.
