Personalized nourishment with Nutreat

Jyothi Sri Pappu, a M Pharma graduate, brought together two aspects that are becoming more and more important in our times: the resources given by Mother Nature and the knowledge and wisdom of our grandmothers. Her own desire to provide her kid with handmade, plant-based, and artisan cuisine led her to create Nutreat in 2014.

When other moms saw her child healthy and fit, they wanted the same meals for their kids, which gave her company the much-needed boost. But in 2017, when a Sri Lankan client desired something special and unusual for her kid, the narrative took a different turn. Jyothi states, “That’s when our journey for customised products started.” Since then, she said, “we have customized about 12,000 recipes for people with various needs, including those with diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, and even autism in children.”

Jyothi claims she was lured to the traditional method of cooking via tales her father told her and customs her mother and grandmother followed, growing up in a home that valued natural and fresh food above manufactured goods. “This is the reason my company only employs women to handcraft everything,” the woman said.

In-depth research and frequent follow-ups with customers over a period of about six months are required for product customization in order to comprehend their training regimens and lifestyles. Everybody’s body is unique, therefore it’s important to consider kids’ dietary preferences while working with them. For instance, we provide a child with their necessary nutrients in the form of cookies if they like them. Our team collaborates with several nutritionists and dieticians to get the intended outcome. We make sure that the food we feed kids with autism is free of gluten and lactose and packed with of brain-boosting ingredients like ashwagandha, Jyothi said CE.

Jyothi said, “We have a signature four-step process that involves slow roasting, sun drying, and stone grinding the ingredients which decreases the necessity to add preservatives,” when asked how she avoids the need to add preservatives for a longer shelf life. Our items’ shelf lives are shortened as a result. For instance, our pre-mixes last for six months, whereas cookies using homemade butter only keep for a month. However, our items’ unique selling point is their handiwork and use of natural materials.

In addition to having a large and devoted client base in other nations including the US, UK, Australia, Russia, Portugal, Singapore, and Malaysia, Nutreat is present in tier-III cities across all states of India. They serve between 5,000 and 8,000 clients, and each month, around 1,000 of them need ongoing assistance. They also offer seasonal jams, biscuits, quick dosa mixes, pancake mixes, brownies, murukku, and khakra in addition to pre-mixes and baby food.

Only my spouse, Satish Kumar Pappu, originally shared my initial enthusiasm for my idea. To support me, he made a little investment in the company,” the woman said. She is in Assam right now, investigating the creation of handmade teas, and she is ready to introduce Nutea in 2025.

Regarding difficulties, she stated that the logistics involved in getting raw materials to their two production facilities in Hyderabad and Malkipuram in the East Godavari region—which are located throughout the nation—are more challenging than the actual raw materials themselves, which come from all over the country, such as spices from Kerala and dry fruits from Kashmir. “Getting these raw materials accounts for about 40–43% of our operating costs, and that is a challenge faced by any startup that sources its ingredients locally,” the spokesperson said.

How then does she intend to grow beyond this? We have just signed many additional white labeling and co-branding projects. We have also created recipes for smaller, more recent brands. Jyothi said, “We have approximately three projects committed for corporates.

We asked her for tips for other parents on how to care for their kids, since she began her adventure with homemade baby food. “Care begins as soon as the woman becomes pregnant with her kid. Prioritizing a healthy lifestyle and spending quality time with your children is vital. Avoid purchasing cereal in a box. “Anything containing fruit must be consumed within a day,” she said.
