Police detain a 19-year-old for attacking an Andhra CM

Five days after the stone assault on Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the Daba Kottu Centre in Ajith Singh Nagar, the principal culprit was taken into custody by Vijayawada city police, who presented him to a local court on Thursday.

The defendant, whose name is Vemula Satish Kumar, lives in Vaddera Colony. Judge C Ramana Reddy of the principal junior civil court, which also serves as the metropolitan magistrate court, ordered Satish to 14 days in judicial detention. The 19-year-old was sent to the district jail in Nellore.

Police said the adolescent attacked the YSRC president with a sharp-edged concrete stone on April 13 as the latter’s cavalcade arrived at Vivekananda School. According to the police remand report, Satish carried out the assault with the goal of killing or seriously hurting Jagan.

The Ajith Singh Nagar police station filed a case under Section 307 (attempt to kill) on April 14 in response to a complaint filed by Velampalli Srinivasa Rao, the YSRC’s candidate for the Vijayawada Central seat and MLA for Vijayawada West. This information is included in the remand report that was provided to the court. Velampalli also suffered a left eye damage in the event. A few additional IPC Sections, such as 120(B) and 107(2), were added to the FIR based on the investigation conducted by the police and the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

The police reported to the court that on April 13, at around seven o’clock at night, Satish and his pals went to Jagan’s roadshow. He had picked up a stone from the Singh Nagar bridge and was carrying it. The accused went to see the Chief Minister with the multitudes of people who had gathered at Vivekananda School intersection as Jagan’s caravan arrived. Then Satish hurled the stone with all of his might toward Jagan.

Jagan and Velampalli Srinivasa Rao suffered injuries as a consequence. On behalf of the Vijayawada police, public prosecutor Krishna Kishore said, “This is an act of target to kill or cause harm to Jagan.” ~

The second culprit, Durga Rao, was also identified by the police as having encouraged Satish to perform the crime. It has come to light that Durga Rao, the A2 in this case, has been heavily involved in the electoral campaigning of the opposition TDP. According to reports, he is also close to Bonda Umamaheshwara Rao, the former MLA.

When asked how Satish was located, a top police official, who wished to remain anonymous, told TNIE that modern technology, residents’ comments, and hints from witnesses guided the detectives to the suspect. “Call data dump traces and CCTV video were among the digital evidence that contributed to the accused’s arrest. At the KGF flat in New RR Pet, Satish was taken into custody. His family members were told of the same. Investigations into the case are still ongoing. The policeman said, “More information has to be gathered about the involvement of other individuals and their motivation behind the assault.

Political gridlock intensifies

When Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, the general secretary of the YSRC, criticized the opposition leaders for calling the event a farce, she questioned if it was really feasible to stage an assault with a stone hurled from such a distance.

He went on to say that TDP leader Bonda Uma cannot maintain that he is being wrongly accused of being involved in the matter. “During the course of the investigation, the role of Uma or even a more senior leader will become clear,” he said.

Varla Ramaiah, a TDP politburo member, questioned how the YSRC leaders could have known that Jagan had been struck by a stone before.

Varla said that while they were being held in detention, youngsters were being tortured. Asking why the Chief Minister was permitted to stand on his car while there was no power in the vicinity, he held the Police Commissioner responsible for the occurrence. “How did this get past the security?
