Police investigate a sacrilege incident in Hoshiarpur, Punjab

At a gurdwara in the hamlet of Pota here, two pages of the Guru Granth Sahib were discovered to have been sliced with a sharp weapon, police said on Thursday.

According to authorities, the event happened in the Gurdwara Shri Guru Ravidass.

The two “pathees,” or priests, found that “angs,” or two pages, had been sliced with a sharp instrument during the reading of the Guru Granth Sahib, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Bipan Kumar.

Another “Saroop,” or actual copy of the Guru Granth Sahib, was examined, and it was discovered that several pages had cut marks and that one page had been taped.

According to the police, there were no CCTV cameras on the gurdwara’s property.

Police said that a FIR has been filed in the case and that an investigation is in progress.
