Ramesh Bidhuri of the BJP refers to Danish Ali of the BSP as a “terrorist” in the Lok Sabha; Rajnath Singh expresses regret

Ramesh Bidhuri, a BJP member from South Delhi, referred to Danish Ali, a legislator for the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), as a “terrorist” in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

The BJP politician made his comment during a debate in the Lower House of Parliament over Chandrayaan-3’s achievement. Bidhuri can be heard stating, “Yeh ugrawaaadi (militant), Yeh aatankwaadi hai, ugrawaadi hai, Yeh aantankwaadi (terrorist) hai,” throughout the proceedings.

Danish Ali is the Lok Sabha representative for the Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh.

Rajnath Singh, the deputy leader of the Lok Sabha and minister for defense, expressed remorse at Bidhuri’s comments.

Singh said that he was not aware of the comments and pleaded with the Chair to strike them from the record if they had offended the opposition members. K Suresh, a congressman who was presiding, claimed to have previously ordered the removal of the words.

The defence minister stated, “I express remorse if the words expressed by the member are offensive to the opposition. The members gave Singh their appreciation by thudding their desks.

On August 23, Chandrayaan-3 landed on the lunar south pole, bringing India into the exclusive club of four and making it the first nation to accomplish so.

The women’s reservation bill was approved by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday with 454 voting in favor and two against.

The law suggests that the reservation last for 15 years and that there be a one-third quota for women in the seats set aside for SC/STs.

A day after being overwhelmingly approved by the Lok Sabha, the women’s reservation bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.

The Bill, which is now on its way to the President of India, will become an Act after receiving her approval and be added as a new article, 334A, to the Constitution. After an 11-hour discussion, the Rajya Sabha voted on the bill, with support from all members across party lines, despite some opposition members calling it an electoral gimmick.

On Thursday, both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha were adjourned sine die.
