Recently married couple postpones J&K voting’s “bidai”

A newlywed couple in Bhaderwah, District Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, decided to postpone their customary “bidai” ceremony in order to exercise their right to vote in the largest elections in the world, the Lok Sabha elections in India, in a touching demonstration of civic responsibility.

The bride and groom knew how important it was for them to take part in the festival of democracy, so they skipped the happy festivities and headed directly to the polls to cast their ballots.

The groom can be seen casting his ballot in traditional wedding clothes as he enters the voting station in a video published with The Statesman.

The Udhampur seat in Jammu & Kashmir is hosting the first round of voting for the Lok Sabha.

Voting began at 7 a.m. and will end at 6 p.m. Twelve contenders are running in Udhampur, one of which is Union minister Jitendra Singh.

101 additional constituencies in 21 states and Union Territories, including West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, are also voting in this regard.
