Recommit to serving the nation with more vigor, Jagdeep Dhankhar asks MPs

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar urged MPs on Wednesday to rededicate themselves with more vigor to the service of the country in order to achieve peoples’ aspirations by bringing up the 1942 Quit India campaign.

On the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the struggle, the Rajya Sabha paid tribute to the independence fighters.

“The people were given a newfound energy by the Father of the Nation’s clarion call of ‘Do or Die,’ which culminated in our country achieving Independence from the yoke of colonial rule,” he stated.

He urged them to “rededicate themselves with greater vigor to be in service of the nation, to realize the aspirations of the people at large, and to secure a place of pride for Bharat in the comity of nations,” calling this an opportunity for the members of Parliament to reflect on their moral contributions.

Dhankhar emphasized that the appeal to “Quit India” is much more pertinent today in Amrit Kaal since this movement is the best example of what people can do when they come together for a common goal and put their all into it.

He said that it is encouraging to see how much has been done since independence to combat prejudice, increase literacy, control poverty, and promote social inclusion.

Honorable Members, we pay our modest and sincere gratitude to all those martyrs who gave their lives for the sake of our independence on this somber day, Dhankhar remarked.

The chairman of the Rajya Sabha also praised the outstanding performance of Indian athletes in the 2023 World University Games, which were held in Chengdu, China, from July 28 to August 8.

Indian participants come home from the 31st World University Games with a record-breaking haul of 26 medals. India’s athletes had their greatest ever Games performance, winning 11 Golds, 5 Silvers, and 10 Bronzes.
