“Repair NH-3 before the tourist season begins.”

Before the commencement of the tourist season, Kullu Deputy Commissioner Torul S. Raveesh has instructed National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) personnel to make sure that all vulnerable areas on National Highway 3 between Takoli and Manali are repaired.

She advocated for the creation of both short- and long-term plans and strategies to avert damage to the NH caused by landslides at Deodhar and Banontar yesterday while presiding over a meeting of NHAI and Public Works Department (PWD) officials here.

She obtained details on the damaged areas on the NH-3 and the repairs being made by it from the NHAI. In addition, the DC oversaw the installation of drains between Kullu and Manali at the appropriate locations.

According to NHAI authorities, bids were called based on a detailed project report (DPR) after a survey in order to avoid landslides at Deodhar and Banontar. Work was scheduled to begin following the Model Code of Conduct.

According to the authorities, eleven locations on the Kullu-Manali National Highway have been identified where last year’s rains caused severe damage and swept away a portion of the road. They said that the construction of RCC barriers and dredging were being done as soon as possible to safeguard these areas.

The DC gave the PWD instructions to fix the alternate and NH-3 linking roads on a regular basis. She urged the NHAI officials and SDMs to dismantle any unlawful projects that were located along the state’s borders, as well as any structures for which compensation had been paid.

Dinesh Sen, the chairman of the Four-Lane Sangharsh Committee, brought up the topic of building flyovers and overhead bridges between Kullu and Manali. He called for accelerating the drain building along the NH.

ADM Kullu NHAI Project Officer Varun Chari, PWD Superintending Engineer Jitender Gupta, District Revenue Officer Ganesh, Kullu SDM Vikas Shukla, Manali SDM Raman Sharma, and other officials were present at the meeting.
