Residents of Ludhiana suffer when driving test resuming is delayed

The automated driving test and online licensing facility in Sector 32 on Chandigarh Road, here, has suspended driving tests for new applicants for the last two months, causing inconvenience to the public.

Previously, candidates from the Ludhiana East sub-division regions covered by the PB-91 registration code took driving tests at the Chandigarh Road center, which was run by the SDM (East). Nevertheless, the Regional Transport Office, Ludhiana (PB-10 code) currently has authority over these regions. Additionally, the Transport Department has made the decision to no longer register cars with the PB-91 designation.

Despite living close by, Jagjeet Singh, a visitor to the automated driving test center on Chandigarh Road, was unable to register for a test at the facility. It was suggested to him that he apply for a driving licence test at another automated driving test site, about 10 km away from the Chandigarh Road location, which is close to SCD Government College.

Singh Kanwaljeet Political activist Bobby said that the Chandigarh Road center was originally the driving test destination for residents of Sahnewal, the Ludhiana East subdivision, and the Ludhiana East constituency. But there had been no testing for new applications there for the previous two months. Because of this, people in these districts had to make lengthy trips to the exam location, which was close to SCD Government College. It is essential that the relevant authorities act right away to guarantee that fresh candidates may once again apply to take driving exams at the Chandigarh Road center.

New applications for driving tests are not being processed at this time, according to a staff member at the test facility on Chandigarh Road, because to outstanding issues about PB-91. Tests were supposed to start up again at the center as soon as the outstanding problems were fixed.

On the other side, Sector 32 on Chandigarh Road is where the driving tests will soon restart, according to State Transport Commissioner Moneesh Kumar.
