Today, the Public Health Engineering Department’s Superintendent Engineer (SE) met with local residents in the presence of members of the Municipal Council.

They delivered an ultimatum to hold a protest at the PHED headquarters if the water supply problem is not remedied, along with a paper outlining their demands.

Wards 5, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 20 of the Bhiwani Municipal Council include Ambedkar Colony, Dhana Road Colony, Amar Nagar, Tibba Basti, Pipli Wali Johari Colony, Hanuman Gate, and Sewa Nagar, which are the areas most severely impacted by the issue.

Ward 14 MC member Jaiveer Singh Ranga said that the roughly 10,000-vote region has been struggling with this issue for some months. Over the last five years, sewage pipes have sustained damage. Numerous pipeline leaks cause sewage to contaminate the potable water supply. Residents have been receiving tainted water that is unfit for human consumption as a consequence, he said.

“Though the government releases huge funds for cleaning and maintenance of sewage pipelines, no one knows where and how this fund is utilised by officials because the problem has not been resolved despite several assurances by the officials concerned,” stated Ankur Kaushik, a town council member representing Ward 5 in the town.

According to him, there has been a severe scarcity of water in the area. “We only get 20% of the overall demand for potable water supply; thus, inhabitants of these locations already face a scarcity of water supply. He lamented, “The little quantity we receive is tainted.

As a spokesperson for the people, Pradeep Kaushik, MC member from Ward 20, claimed he had brought up the matter with the relevant authorities, but to no effect.

“The government apparatus is run with complete incompetence. He said that a different government body built a road on the same section of the broken sewage line rather than fixing the damaged pipes.
