Sanjay Kumar Singh, an IPS officer from the Odisha cadre, has voluntarily retired from the force. Singh is an IPS officer from the 1996 batch who is now working at the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in New Delhi as the deputy director general.

Singh voluntarily retired from government duty on February 29, 2024, with effect from April 30, according to a recent announcement from the Home Department. As of April 30, he is eligible to resign from the Indian Police Service.

There are many rumors that the 59-year-old commander may enter politics during the general elections, but he was unable to comment on his future intentions.

During his tenure at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from 2008 to 2015, Singh oversaw a number of high-profile cases, including the allegations of corruption against Om Prakash Chautala, the former chief minister of Haryana, the 2010 Commonwealth Games scam, irregularities in the Medical Council of India (MCI), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) recruitment scandal, among others.
