Senior positions being filled by retired nurses while current members are not being promoted: AIGNF

The city’s nursing organizations claimed that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is hiring retired nurses for senior nursing officer positions in order to fill the lack of nursing officers, taking advantage of those who are already employed.

The All India Government Nurses Federation (AIGNF) sent a letter to L-G VK Saxena stating, “We have received information from our affiliated units that the administrations of MCD-managed hospitals are giving undue advantage to retired nurses over the rights of regular employees with malafide intention.”

“To address the scarcity of nursing officers, a portion of the retired nursing staff has been rehired at MCD hospitals. They work in opposition to the nursing officials. The letter said, “However, hospital administration is posting them in lieu of senior nursing officers.”

The group did clarify, however, that while it had nothing against retired nurses being reemployed, they should continue to work in their current positions rather than being promoted.

“There are promotions available everywhere for the positions of senior nursing officers, assistant nursing superintendents, and deputy nursing superintendents. Unexpectedly, MCD hospitals have established their own policies and procedures regarding the hiring of retired nurses in opposition to these positions. The nurses said, “This is against the regulations and unethical.”

As per the union, this will have an impact on the careers of nurses who have been anxiously awaiting promotions, particularly those who started in 1986 and are around retirement age. “A large number of them have already retired and are doing so without receiving any raises. “No promotions are available,” the letter said.

The association pleaded with the L-G, saying, “The above-mentioned matter is of very serious nature and will not resolve without your intervention.”
