“Should We Take Four From RR…”: Venkatesh Prasad Fires IPL Math Bouncer During Wealth Debate in Congress

Venkatesh Prasad, a former Indian cricket player, referred to the Congress’s pledge of “wealth redistribution” for the Lok Sabha elections on Monday as “pathetic.” He quoted previous Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s assertion that the minority group had the first claim to the nation’s riches, and the day before, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hinted that if the Congress won, it would allocate money to Muslims.

The former Indian bowler used the Indian Premier League to compare the Congress proposal to “redistributing” points from the top three teams to the bottom three in order for them to “make the playoffs.”

Redistributing income from the affluent to the poor is part of the political party’s program, according to Venkatesh Prasad, who attacked the Congress party on the microblogging platform X. The really impoverished must be helped, but this way of thinking is so pitiful. It’s similar to stating, “The bottom three teams can qualify for the playoffs if we take four points from RR, four from KKR, and four from SRH and re-distribute them.”

The former cricket player made reference to the Indian Premier League’s points system, which states that the top four teams with the most points from league games advance to the tournament’s playoffs, with the other teams being eliminated.

Following PM Modi’s remarks, there was a political backlash, with opposition leaders accusing the prime minister of fomenting “communal hatred” in order to “divert the public’s attention from the issue.”

The prime minister is “afraid of the immense support that Congress’s ‘Revolutionary Manifesto’ is receiving,” according to Rahul Gandhi.

“After the disappointment of the first round of voting, Narendra Modi’s dishonesty has decreased to such an extent that, scared, he is now attempting to deflect the public’s focus from the problems. There are indications that Congress’s “Revolutionary Manifesto” is gaining a great deal of popularity. In an X post, Gandhi said, “The nation will now vote on its issues, vote for its employment, family, and future.”
