Since the IUML is Rahul Gandhi’s embarrassment, its flags are not present on the roadshow: Irani

WAYANAD: Union minister Smriti Irani attacked Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, saying he was “ashamed” of the IUML, a party ally, since the party’s banner was hidden during his roadshow in this hilly region.

Irani said he should refuse the support of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) if he was embarrassed of them while on the campaign trail for the BJP in the hill seat where Gandhi is running for reelection.

Gandhi was accused of keeping quiet about the alleged misgovernance in Kerala by the Left front by the Union minister for women and child development, who had beaten Gandhi in the 2019 general elections in Amethi.
“Mismanagement of state funds, scams in Kerala’s cooperative banks, and Rahul Gandhi’s silence on these issues—particularly the Left Front’s misgovernance as the INDI alliance partner—speak volumes.” She said that Rahul Gandhi would prefer to be in charge than to have effective government. After BJP state head K Surendran filed his candidature for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, she spoke to media and expressed her dismay that Gandhi had reportedly taken backing from the SDPI, the political wing of the PFI, which is outlawed.
“By accepting their support, he (Gandhi) has also violated the oath to the Constitution taken during the filing of the nomination,” she said asThe Union minister said that “in the age of not only media but digital media and social media revolution,” it was “foolhardy” to attempt to conceal these things from the public about the flag issue.
The Union minister for women’s and children’s development said that Gandhi’s political activities in southern India incite hatred against the Sanatan Dharma, and she questioned why, while running for office, he visits every reputable temple in northern India. Irani also questioned Gandhi, saying, “Why is he taking the support of a banned terrorist organization’s political leadership to fight in his own constituency?” if, as he stated a day earlier here, he was fighting to defend democracy and the Constitution.
