SIT misrepresenting Sukhbir’s closeness to the dera head: Counsel

The lawyer for Sukhbir Badal accused the SIT of fabricating non-existent incriminating circumstances to support the conspiracy allegations against the SAD chief during the arguments for filing charges against him and five other accused, including former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini, in the District and Sessions Judge’s court in the Kotkapura police firing case.

Senior lawyer RS Cheema said that there was no evidence to support the SIT’s claims that Sukhbir was connected to the leadership of Dera Sacha Sauda. He said that the claims that Sukhbir ordered meddling in the investigation of sacrilege cases in order to preserve his goodwill with the Dera chief were a bunch of falsehoods.

The case’s next hearing is scheduled for March 11.
