Smuggler is apprehended by police

Satyawan, an interstate opium smuggler who lived in the Badaun region of Uttar Pradesh, was apprehended by the police. He and his associates used to import opium from Jharkhand and UP to Punjab, supplying it to places like Ropar, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Mohali, among other places. Ten kilograms of opium in all were found in his hands.

Inspector Amarbir Singh’s CIA Staff team, according to Rakesh Yadav, SP (Investigation), set a naka on GT Road in Sirhind. He said that early in the morning, someone got off the bus with a bag. The police inspected the man’s luggage out of suspicion and found 10 kg of opium inside.

According to the SP, the suspect said during the first probe that the opium was transported from Uttar Pradesh to be provided in Chandigarh, Mohali, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Ludhiana. Satyawan was already facing charges of drug trafficking in Mohali, according to SP Yadav, who also said that further research is being done to identify his associates and connections. Satyawan was released on bail.
