Solan: A native of Uttar Pradesh was sentenced to 15 years in jail for rape and abduction

A 15-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) sentence was handed down today for the abduction and rape of a 10-year-old minor girl by Shailender Sharma, an Uttar Pradesh resident, by Gurmeet Kaur, Additional District and Sessions Judge-Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court, Solan.

The accused has also been fined Rs 16,000 for a number of offenses, including rape, abduction, and illegal imprisonment.

On February 21, 2019, the victim was abducted by the accused, Shailender Sharma, according to Deputy District Attorney Solan PS Negi. She was raped repeatedly while being held captive in a rented home. The prosecution questioned up to 21 witnesses in order to prove the crime.
