Stock of cough syrup worth Rs 2.69 lakh found illegally stored in Thane and seized by the police

According to statements made by the police on Sunday, the anti-narcotics unit of the Maharashtra police force found and confiscated a stock of cough syrups worth a total of Rs 2.69 lakh that had been unlawfully held in a residence in the Thane district.

The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) conducted a search warrant on an apartment in the Shil Phata neighborhood of this city on August 10 and confiscated 1,611 bottles of two different varieties of cough syrup, according to a senior police inspector named Sanjay Shinde.

The official said that the person living in the apartment, named as Simab Ismail Sheikh (25), did not have a license that allowed them to store and sell the drugs.

According to the official, an offense was recorded against the individual in accordance with the requirements of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act; however, the official said that no arrest has been made so far in connection with this matter.
