Students during PM Coimbatore event: Headmistress of school claims that the allegation is politically motivated

The Coimbatore school has filed a plea with the Madras High Court to overturn the police complaint that it faces for bringing students dressed in school uniforms to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent road tour.

The petition was submitted by the school’s headmistress, S Pukal Vadivu, who claimed that the complaint against the institution was “absolutely false” and that it was made with a “vindictive attitude” just to torment the administration of the school.

Based on a report made by the district child protection officer, the Sai Baba Colony police had filed a FIR against the headmistress on March 19 under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, 2015.

According to the headmistress, there is no truth to the claim that pupils were coerced into attending the prime minister’s roadshow.

During his road show in Coimbatore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gestures to the crowd as he passes by Saibaba colony and RS Puram. Schoolchildren attend the road show, and the district education department initiates an investigation.
The petition claimed that the school administration are being harassed by the complaint because it is a “political vendetta” and that there is no evidence of any alleged child abuse.

The headmistress claimed that the allegation damaged the school’s reputation and caused severe mental anguish and suffering. The petitioner requested that the FIR be quashed, arguing that the FIR’s registration was unjustified, unsubstantiated, and a blatant misuse of legal procedure.

Judge N Anand Venkatesh gave the police instructions to submit a counter-affidavit by April 3 and to refrain from using coercion until that date when the matter was up for hearing on Thursday.
